New season, same story. Walton 2nds fell to a 87 run defeat at the hands of Whetstone 2nds. Batting first Whetstone got off to a slow start as Moreland (1-27) and Richards (0-15) bowled great line and length to tie the whetstone openers down. Wickets were hard to come by and Green (2-35) and J Conway (2-50) and Bulluck (2-30) meant that Whetstone were able to close the innings on 175/7. Waltons reply got off to a bad start as they lost two quick wickets, but a stand between Watkins 33 and Tovey 25 helped steady the ship. After these two fell the rest collapsed like a pack of cards. Walton eventually all out for 88. Another season of batting disasters ahead. But all good fun.
